Garcia-Manero leads the largest MDS program in the world and he directs the MDS/AML Moon Shot® program which includes the priority projects of developing therapies, overcoming resistance, and preventing relapse.
He is the Dr. Kenneth B. McCredie Chair in Clinical Leukemia Research in the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
He is the 2023-2024 President of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO) and chair of the 2024 SOHO Annual Meeting.
He has published over 500 publications on biology, therapy and prognostication of these disorders, and the development of multiple therapeutic clinical trials.
